Kena Cubed™ asks questions pertinent to our every day lives. The founder hopes to tackle issues few authors would consider.
“Kena” comes from the Andean musical instrument from Peru, also spelled Quena. I play this vertical, notched flute. It has meaning to me, just as I hope the stories in this website have meaning for you. The number 3, or “cubed,” signifies that there are always multiple perspectives to every story.

Ramón Bannister, Founder of Kena Cubed™
Kena Cubed™ is a cross between a blog and a small news outlet. Designed to publish meaningful stories, the founder asks questions pertinent to our every day lives. From immigration to culture to animated cartoons to the disappeared in Chile, Ramon hopes to tackle issues few authors would consider.
The founder derives his inspiration from multiple sources:
Books:
- Down by the River: Drugs, Money, Murder, and Family by Charles Bowden
- The Puzzle Palace: Inside the National Security Agency, America’s Most Secret Intelligence Organization by James Bamford.
Television
- The PBS documentary series Independent Lens, especially the film, Chicago 10. (Click on talkback at the top right. Then, scroll all the way down to the bottom and read the first comment posted. Note who posted it.)
- Steve Hartman’s reports with CBS News and his series, Assignment America
- The show Chronicle aired on the ABC affiliate WCVB in Boston.
In addition to the cover story, we also do product reviews. Though previous reviews had a variety of products, we will now focus on home improvement products, services and ideas. We will risk our time and/or money so that you don’t have to. We will continue to use our unique rating system.
